New Patient Visit
We always look forward to meeting new patients. On your first visit,
you will be greeted by the receptionist and asked to provide your
personal health history information, as well as your insurance
information. Usually, you will see Dr. Cornwell first who enjoys
greeting new patients. Then you will meet the hygienist. Most new
patients are anxious to get a cleaning so they can have that
smooth-tooth, polished feeling. At this point, the hygienist who
will scan your teeth for cavities that are smaller than a pinprick
with a Diagnodent laser. We use this remarkable laser because we
have found that tiny cavities are always much easier to address than
bigger ones.
Then Dr. Cornwell will return and review your oral
condition with a full examination and an intraoral camera, which
will allow you to see the features of your teeth and gums up close
and magnified up to twenty-five times. Dr. Cornwell will take x-rays
of your teeth and check your periodontics, restorations, and teeth
to make sure none are cracked or fractured. You will learn a
tremendous amount about your oral condition during this visit, and
most likely you will return for another visit when the x-rays are
developed. At the next visit, Dr. Cornwell can provide you with a
full evaluation. From there, you will decide which steps you want to
take to achieve your new smile. Read on to find out about all of the
options that are available to you.

Partials and Dentures
A complete set of teeth improves your confidence and self-esteem,
but it also increases the longevity of your natural teeth by
removing stress placed on them. As the years go by, the supporting
ridges that remain after teeth have been removed gradually change
and get smaller. Patients should have their dentures checked at
least once a year. For more information on partials and dentures,

Endodontics
We perform root canals to prevent tooth extraction when the inner
soft tissue of a tooth becomes damaged, infected, or inflamed. Signs
you may need endodontic treatment include pain, prolonged
sensitivity to heat or cold, tenderness to touch and chewing, and
discoloration of the tooth. For more information on endodontics,

TMJ
The temporomandibular joint connects the lower jaw, called the
mandible, to the temporal bone at the side of the head. Some people
feel discomfort or pain in the muscles that control jaw function. We
can help alleviate symptoms of clicking, pain, pressure in sinuses,
difficulty opening mouth, and migraine headaches. For more
information on TMJ dentistry,

Nitrous Oxide
Sometimes called laughing gas, nitrous oxide is used for its calming effect.
We offer it to patients who are apprehensive about treatment. It puts them
in a relaxed state so that they do not have to be fearful during a treatment
session. Your normal reflexes will be intact, and you will be able to communicate
with us during treatment. For more information on nitrous oxide, click

Invisalign®
Invisalign® has been proven in clinical research and orthodontic practices
nationwide as the invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces. This
technology uses a series of clear removable aligners to straighten your teeth
without metal wires or brackets. Invisalign® is a popular choice among adult
orthodontic patients. Total treatment time averages 9 to 15 months and the average
number of aligners worn during treatment is between 16 and 30. Dr. Cornwell is
a certified Invisalign® dentist. Many patients are seeking treatment for
the popular invisible orthodontics. For more information on Invisalign® click

Lumineers
Lumineers are a wonderful solution for permanently stained, chipped, discolored,
misaligned teeth. They can even be used to revitalize old crown and bridgework.
Dr. Cornwell applies these contact lens-thin “smile shapers” to

procedure. Lumineers can transform misshapen, worn teeth into a naturally beautiful
